A plan for recovery
- Schedule
- Create copies manually or configure a supported schedule in Backup Vault. Frequency should reflect how much recent data can be lost.
- Retention
- Estimate source size, change rate and how long copies must be retained. Retention is configured separately from a volume purchase.
- Encryption
- Confirm encryption in transit and at rest, key ownership and restore access for the selected service. No universal encryption guarantee is assumed.
- Restore
- Review source compatibility and the target before restoring. A successful backup operation alone does not prove the application can recover.

What do I see in Backup Vault?
The Console provides a backup list, manual creation, restore and scheduling for resources that support those actions.
Does a backup replace high availability?
No. Backup provides a recovery path. Availability during an outage is a separate architecture decision. Define both the recovery point and the time needed to restore.
